Bonjour, j'ai mon oral d'anglais très bientôt et j'ai fait mon texte sur la notion "Myths and heroes". Pourriez-vous me dire si mon texte est correct et corriger mes éventuelles fautes ?
Merci d'avance.
Today I'm going to talk about the notion of myths and heroes. Heroes can be defined as real or fictional people who are liked for their good achievements in society. They are generally people we would like to look like, such as celebrities or political figures. However, heroes are not necessarily famous people. In fact, it's more people who can inspire all types of generations in a good way. Now I would like to give a definition of myths. Myths are stories based on tradition which can also be fictional. They are still important today because they help us to understand the world. To illustrate this notion I would like to answer the question : How do people become heroes ? I will base my presentation on three main parts which are committed heroes, media heroes and fictional heroes.
A committed hero is somebody who stands up for a cause or ideas. He generally dedicates his life to fight injustices and social inequalities. In fact, committed heroes are usually for democracy and freedom. During the 20th century, committed heroes have been behind major social changes, such as the emancipation of black people. For example, in South Africa, Nelson Mandela has fought Apartheid. In fact, he has fought this political system which established a racial segregation between black people and white people. Just like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X, he is considered one of the biggest international figures in the fight for black people.
Now, I'm going to talk about media heroes. A media hero is a celebrity who takes advantage of his fame to spread values. It can be a artist, a athlete or a politician. In fact, a lot of celebrities help others by donations to charity. For example, Angelina Jolie is known for being very involved in humanitarian aid. In fact, the actress is famous for her work for refugees and has been named "Godwill Ambassador". Moreover, she's also committed in the protection of environment and animals. Because of her involvement in various humanitarian causes, she's considered one of the most devoted celebrities in the world.
Finally, I'm going to talk about fictional heroes. Fictional heroes are fictional characters created to play a Robin Hood character or a villain character. Some fictional heroes are world-famous, especially those from British works like Sherlock Holmes. Created in 1854 by Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes is a private detective who got a good memory. Because of his success, he got adapted in many works such as books, movies, plays and series. Moreover, his character has inspired a lot of writers for their crime novel.
In conclusion, people become heroes by carrying out remarkable actions in society. To this end, they can help oppressed people, dedicated themselves to charity or saving people life in their daily life. In my opinion, cartoons are really important for children because they influence their behaviour by the heroes they represent.
Merci d'avance.
