Question

Bonjour, je voudrais savoir si ce que j'ai écris pour mon oral d'anglais problématique ''Notion de progrès'' est bon. J'ai la version française si jamais ça peut aider à mieux comprendre la traduction, et merci d'avance.;

First of all, it seems important to me to define the terms of the notion. According to me, progress is an advance or an improvement in different sectors such as medicine, technoligy, science, industry, etc. progress allows the evolution of society and the modernization of these sectors and it is often a sign of profit, of positive. We will see if the progress is always positive or if it sometimes conceals disadvantages. We will begin by seeing various aspects of the progress that seems positive to humanity before questioning some of the forgotten aspects of progress.

During the school year, in the second sequence entitled '' the power of science '' we were able to study the revolutionary progress of science over time. Indeed, in the text '' The future progress '' from CHS globe online, a woman places a very special order reminiscent of the one we spend in fast food. She would like two children, red with freckles, green eyes with a high IQ and a good personality. We have here the portrait of the dreamed child. As stated in the CO '' designer babies '', thanks to the progress of science and the use of the process called PGD "pre-implatation genetic diagnosis" it is possible for future parents to choose the color of the eyes, hair, choose the sex and reject genetic diseases. Basically, it is then possible to choose and create your own ideal baby. '' Cleaning Dolly the Sheep '' is probably the most advanced scientific evidence, because Dolly is the first sheep to be cloned in history in 1996, which is amazing because this cloning technique could allow animals to be kept alive. Endangered. Finally the oral understanding '' 'cloned eggs and sperm' 'informs us that the cloning of eggs and spermatozoa is now possible, which can greatly help to fight against the infertility of some.

The second positive aspect is the growth of the business of surrogate mothers. We listened the listening comprehension '' Radio Phone in surrogacy '' to understand what the different positives were about surrogacy. Having a surrogate can save families who want to have a child, but unfortunately the mother cannot have one naturally. It is a new development and especially a very specific progress but which gives help to parents.
Unfortunately, behind these positive aspects are hidden sometimes dark, more negative aspects and of which we speak little. But what are they?

Although we have studied many positive aspects of scientific progress, if we use the same documents as before, we can understand that there is more to it than benefits. '' The future progress '' and the oral comprehension '' baby creator '', it is possible to create our own ideal child, a child a little '' perfect ''. But wanting to create the perfect child changes the game, it's no longer ethical and it's against nature. In addition, there would be more boys than girls because many cultures are patriarchal and give more importance to men than women. When we talk about a perfect child, we can think of fair-haired blue-eyed children and therefore Aryans who were signs of perfection, purity and superiority for the Nazis during the Second World War. It's not so cute said like that.
It is also the same for surrogates who also have their dark faces. In the audio "Radio phone in surrogacy" which includes several testimonials, we also have people who do not agree on the subject. Surrogate mothers will not know that they will be the relationships between her children and the child she is going to give birth to for another couple, this can create conflict. In addition, the idea of becoming a substitute develops especially in India because women do it for money, this is part of the dark side of globalization (globalization) and gives away after less want to appeal to a surrogate mother.

Finally, the different positive aspects of progress reflect the idea of being able to create one's child from scratch and the idea of always wanting to create a perfect child is not the solution, it would mean that imperfection would no longer have its place in this world and it's horrible. For surrogates this is a very good solution, but in truth many women around the world become surrogates just for the money, and sometimes many women use these surrogates simply because they are too lazy or too busy to have a child (gestation too long) To answer the question, no, progress is not always positive as we would like us to believe.

Merci beaucoup

  • Bonjour,
